BJP and Samajwadi Party adapt campaign strategies to beat the heat in Uttar Pradesh

Amidst soaring temperatures reaching 42 degrees Celsius in Lucknow on Sunday, political parties have adjusted their campaign methods to shield supporters and workers from the relentless heatwave.

Lucknow recorded 42 degrees Celsius on Sunday and there is no respite in sight from the heatwave in the near future.

With temperatures soaring in Lucknow, political parties are adapting their campaign strategies to mitigate the effects of the scorching heat on their workers and voters.

On Sunday, Lucknow recorded temperatures as high as 42 degrees Celsius, with no relief expected from the heatwave in the near future.

In response, BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh from Sarojini Nagar stated, "We are refraining from campaigning between noon and 4 p.m. Instead, we're engaging in door-to-door meetings from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and conducting small group meetings in the evenings. Organisational meetings at the ward level are primarily held indoors during the afternoon."

Singh emphasised the party's focus on increasing voter turnout in the state capital. He noted the district administration's decision to establish polling stations in 14 high-rise buildings, prompting the party to intensify its efforts to encourage voter participation.

Praveen Garg, the BJP's media in charge, outlined their adjusted schedule, which includes morning door-to-door visits, organisational meetings to devise strategies, and "nukkad sabha" and public meetings in the evenings.

He also mentioned arrangements for packaged drinking water for party workers during Rajnath Singh's nomination filing, anticipating significant participation.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Samajwadi Party have also modified their campaign timings to engage with voters as they rally support for their candidate, Ravidas Mehrotra, who is contesting against Rajnath Singh for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat.

Gaurav Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party's media in-charge for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, detailed their month-long campaign strategy, involving door-to-door canvassing from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., afternoon meetings in community halls, and small meetings between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Both parties are adjusting their approaches to ensure effective campaigning while prioritising the health and well-being of their workers and constituents amidst the oppressive heat.
