In a significant organisational reshuffle, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu as the Executive President of the Jharkhand state unit.
The announcement was made through a notification issued on Friday by BJP’s National Secretary Arun Singh. Sahu replaces Dr Ravindra Kumar Rai, who had been serving in the position since the run-up to the 2024 Assembly elections.
Sahu’s appointment comes into effect immediately. Known for his strong organisational skills and connect with grassroots workers, Sahu has been entrusted with the task of strengthening the party in Jharkhand ahead of upcoming political challenges.
A resident of Ormanjhi in Ranchi district, Aditya Sahu’s journey from a professor to a seasoned politician reflects his diverse experience and dedication.
Born on July 1, 1964, in Kuchu village, he pursued higher education at Ranchi University, completing a Master’s degree in Commerce. Before entering full-time politics, he served as a professor at Ram Tahal Choudhary College until 2019.
Sahu’s political career began during his student days with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), where he emerged as an active leader.
Over the past two decades, he has held key roles within the BJP, including State General Secretary of the Jharkhand unit. He also served as Chairman of the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.
In 2022, the BJP nominated him to the Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand, where he was elected unopposed. Since then, he has been raising important state issues at the national level.
His appointment as Working President is seen as recognition of his loyalty, organisational acumen, and commitment to the party’s ideology.
With this change, the BJP aims to further energise its cadre base in Jharkhand as it prepares for future electoral battles.
