With the Uttarakhand Assembly elections approaching, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has prepared a detailed organisational plan for the state. The strategy focuses on strengthening the party's booth-level structure, increasing public engagement and involving experienced workers as it prepares for another term in government.
The plan was approved during a meeting of the BJP Uttarakhand Core Committee held in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by BJP National President Nitin Nabin and attended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami along with other senior leaders from the state.
The party has also decided to reach out to senior workers who are not currently holding any organisational or government positions. Their feedback and suggestions will be gathered through a special programme scheduled for September.
As per the organisational calendar, BJP district and mandal presidents from the Garhwal region will meet in Dehradun on August 8. A similar meeting for leaders from the Kumaon region will be held in Haldwani on August 16. State General Secretary Tarun Bansal will oversee both events.
The BJP will take out a Tiranga Yatra across the state on August 9. The programme will be coordinated by BJP Yuva Morcha State President Vipul Mendoli. This will be followed by the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 11 to 15 under the supervision of State Vice President Shailendra Bisht.
To review election preparations, the party will organise meetings of MPs and MLAs from the Garhwal Lok Sabha constituencies in Dehradun on August 17. A similar meeting for leaders from the Kumaon region will take place in Haldwani on August 18. State General Secretary Deepti Rawat has been given responsibility for coordinating both meetings.
The BJP will begin its Booth Empowerment Campaign on August 19. Meetings of Shakti Kendras will start from August 23 as part of efforts to further strengthen the party's grassroots network.
BJP Media In-charge Manveer Chauhan said the party will run a special outreach programme in September to reconnect with senior workers who are not actively involved in organisational responsibilities at present.
He said the leadership wants to make use of the experience and guidance of these senior workers to further strengthen the party structure across the state.
The organisational exercise comes at a time when political activity is picking up ahead of the Assembly elections. The BJP is working to consolidate its position as it aims to return to power for a third straight term in Uttarakhand.
