Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Saturday slammed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, calling him a “tourist-in-chief” due to his packed schedule of foreign tours.
He accused the Chief Minister of dodging important issues and failing to dispose of files related to problems faced by the common people. Sharma alleged that Chief Minister Omar has been missing from the public eye for the past 10 days and is behaving more like a globetrotting traveller than the elected head of a sensitive region like Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking a sharp swipe at Omar, Sharma said, “He seems to be under the delusion that he is running a travel blog, not a state.” While he remains busy with foreign trips, the common man in the Union Territory is struggling with basic issues such as water supply, electricity, and healthcare facilities, he added.
Sharma further said the Chief Minister is handling 18 different departments, including finance, power development, general administration, tourism, and revenue, among others.
“It’s ironic that one man can hardly manage even one department properly, and Omar is handling 18 at the same time,” he remarked. Sharma went on to say that while Omar Abdullah is acting like a superman managing all departments, he is also enjoying frequent foreign trips.
He further announced that the BJP would soon file a “missing report” over the disappearance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. “Our party will file a missing report at Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh over Omar Abdullah’s disappearance,” Sharma said, taking a direct dig at the Chief Minister.
