Police visited the residence of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath in Chhindwara on Monday regarding a complaint filed by BJP candidate Vivek 'Bunty' Sahu.
Sahu, who is contesting against Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath in the Lok Sabha elections from Chhindwara, alleges that Kamal Nath's close aide R. K. Mrignali provided funds to certain journalists to produce fabricated videos aimed at tarnishing his image.
According to Sahu's complaint, Mrignali allegedly allocated Rs 20 lakh to independent journalists for the creation and dissemination of false videos on social media platforms targeting him. However, the police have not commented on the matter.
This development coincides with the impending visit of senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Chhindwara.
The Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency holds significance as a stronghold of the Congress party. Scheduled for polling in the first phase on April 19, it stands out as the only constituency in Madhya Pradesh not won by the BJP in the 2019 elections, maintaining its allegiance to the Congress.
