In a calculated political move ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, newly appointed BJP’s national president Nitin Nabin has chosen the state for his first official state visit after assuming office, said party sources. Nabin will arrive in West Bengal for a two-day visit beginning January 27, with a packed schedule focused on strengthening party organisation and engaging directly with grassroots workers.
According to BJP sources, Nabin is expected to arrive at Andal Airport around 4 pm on January 27, from where he will proceed to Durgapur. His visit will commence with his participation in the ‘Kamal Mela’, scheduled to be held at the Chitralaya Mela Ground in Durgapur between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. The event is aimed at energising party cadres and reinforcing organisational unity.
Later that evening, the BJP national president will chair a meeting of the party’s state core committee at a hotel in Durgapur. Senior state leaders are expected to attend the meeting, during which discussions will be held on the party’s organisational strength, ground-level preparedness and future political programmes in the state.
On January 28, Nabin will begin his day with a visit to the Bhiringi Kali Temple in Durgapur at 9 am, where he will offer prayers. He will then attend the Burdwan Divisional Workers’ Conference at the Chitralaya Mela Ground in Durgapur East from 10:30 am to 12:45 pm. Leaders and workers from various districts under the Burdwan division are expected to participate, providing an opportunity for direct interaction with the national leadership.
In the afternoon, Nabin will travel to the Asansol organisational district. From 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm, he is scheduled to attend the Asansol District Workers’ Meeting in Raniganj. Party sources said the meeting is likely to focus on district-level organisational challenges, programme implementation and future political strategies.
The BJP national president will conclude his visit by departing for Delhi from Andal Airport on the evening of January 28.
According to the BJP’s state leadership, Nabin’s visit carries special significance in the run-up to the Assembly elections. The party believes that the national president’s intensive engagement with workers and leaders will inject fresh momentum into the organisation and sharpen its political messaging against the ruling TMC, which has been in power for over 15 years.
Soon after taking charge as national president, Nabin has already begun outlining the party’s electoral roadmap, keeping West Bengal firmly in focus. Part sources said in his first major organisational meeting, attended by senior state leaders and election-related functionaries, detailed discussions were held on election preparedness and strategies aimed at challenging the Trinamool government’s long-standing rule.
With the BJP stepping up its organisational push, Nitin Nabin’s maiden visit to West Bengal is being viewed as a clear signal of the party’s heightened focus on the state ahead of the crucial electoral battle.
