State BJP President Dr Rajeev Bindal on Wednesday said BJP-supported candidates had secured a historic and massive victory in the first phase of the Panchayati Raj elections in Himachal Pradesh.
He stated that voting was held in 1,293 panchayats across the state on May 26, and according to reports received till late night, BJP-supported candidates for Pradhan and Up-Pradhan emerged victorious in nearly 75 percent of the panchayats.
Dr Bindal said these results clearly indicate that the people of Himachal Pradesh were deeply disappointed and angry with the anti-people policies, false promises, and failed governance of the Congress government. He termed the first-phase election results a clear mandate and a public referendum against the present Congress regime.
He said before coming to power, the Congress government had made tall promises to women, youth, farmers, employees, and the common people. However, during the last two-and-a-half years, the people of the state have received nothing but betrayal, inflation, unemployment, and economic hardship.
The promise of financial assistance to women remains unfulfilled, announcements regarding jobs for youth have remained confined to speeches and documents, and farmers and orchardists have received only hollow assurances instead of real relief.
Bindal said the youth of the state were struggling with unemployment, while farmers and orchardists were fighting for fair prices for their produce. At the same time, common people are burdened by rising prices of electricity, water, and other essential services. He alleged that the Congress government had completely stalled development works and was functioning only to provide political protection and benefits to its favored individuals.
The state BJP chief said strong public anger against the Congress government was visible in villages across Himachal Pradesh during the elections. Several senior Congress leaders and political heavyweights have suffered humiliating defeats in their own areas. He stated that the people had completely rejected the arrogance and failures of the Congress government.
He said the Bharatiya Janata Party had always prioritised the welfare of villages, farmers, women, youth, and the poor. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has continuously provided unprecedented support to Himachal Pradesh in sectors such as roads, healthcare, education, railways, rural development, and infrastructure, the benefits of which are reaching the people of the state.
Bindal said the Panchayati Raj election results once again prove that the people of Himachal Pradesh continue to repose their faith in BJP’s policies, organisational strength, and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that in the coming time, the people of the state will continue to give a strong response to the Congress government at every level.
