As the Ghatshila Assembly by-election draws near, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ramping up preparations for a major campaign aimed at consolidating its presence in the constituency. Polling is slated for November 11, with electioneering concluding two days prior, on November 9. The party plans to deploy its full organisational strength, along with a lineup of senior leaders and star campaigners, to engage voters across the region.
Abhay Singh, Jharkhand BJP campaign in-charge, said the party has finalised a detailed outreach strategy targeting voters at every level. “Our efforts will combine grassroots mobilisation with showcasing the Centre’s development agenda,” he said.
He added that leaders from Jharkhand and neighbouring West Bengal would jointly work to reach diverse sections of the electorate.
Prominent leaders expected in Ghatshila include West Bengal BJP Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari, national spokesperson and former IPS officer Bharti Ghosh, Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar, and Lok Sabha MP Locket Chatterjee.
Party leader Rani Mukherjee will also participate, reflecting BJP’s effort to draw support from across state borders.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, is scheduled to visit Ghatshila and Jadugora to highlight recent initiatives in the mining sector. He will outline government projects aimed at boosting employment and fostering regional growth.
Adding a touch of glamour, actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty will conduct a grand roadshow in Ghatshila, expected to energise both party workers and residents. His previous roadshow in 2024 had reportedly drawn large crowds in support of BJP candidate Babulal Soren.
The BJP’s National Election Committee has also released a list of 40 star campaigners for the bye-election, featuring senior leaders such as Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former Chief Ministers Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda, and Raghubar Das, as well as Champai Soren, Bidyut Baran Mahto, Aditya Sahu, and Abhay Singh.
With this blend of political heavyweights, grassroots organisers, and popular personalities, the BJP’s campaign in Ghatshila is set to be one of the most dynamic and strategically focused efforts ahead of the by-poll.
