BJP MLA from Dharamshala, Sudhir Sharma on Tuesday moved privilege notice against Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi, who in the midst of court order on CBI probe into Chief Engineer Vimal Negi’s death case, had spoken against Sharma on news channels for sharing the livestreaming of court proceedings on social media, while alleging that he was the ‘mastermind’ in cross voting Rajya election in Himachal Pradesh in February, 2024.
In a letter to the Speaker, HP Assembly, Kuldeep Pathania, the BJP MLA, who was one of the six Congress MLAs, who faced dismissal from the Assembly for defying the whip but had won the by-poll again on BJP ticket, Sudhir Sharma said it was an attempt to tarnish his political image. He said if he was the main accused and the mastermind, why the SP, Shimla, had not taken any action against him so far.
It is pertinent to mention that Sanjeev Gandhi, whose outburst against Sudhir Sharma had much to do with MLA having reportedly shared the live streaming of the court proceedings on Vimal Negi case, wherein Gandhi was scolded by the Judge for indulging in indiscipline by stating against the Director General of Police in court, on social media.
Not only this, the SP, Shimla, who was heading the state’s Special Investigation Team into the Vimal Negi case, had against DGP, and had even referred to the Chief Secretary, a constitutional authority and even DC for putting pressure on him in different cases.
