As the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir draw near, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is exploring strategic alliances and backing independent candidates to secure a majority and form a government in the region.
On Tuesday, BJP State President Ravinder Raina discussed the party's election strategy with the media.
He mentioned that while the BJP plans to contest the elections independently, it remains open to collaborating with like-minded parties and supporting selected independent candidates.
This strategy aims to consolidate the BJP’s vote bank and ensure success in critical constituencies.
“There are some constituencies and areas where independents and like-minded people will be supported by the BJP so that the BJP’s vote bank could be utilised for ensuring the victory of that candidate.”
While briefing reporters, Raina said, “We want the BJP along with the like-minded candidates to win and we will cross the 50-seat mark to form the government.”
The BJP’s main objective was to achieve a majority in the assembly by surpassing the 50-seat threshold, he added.
Earlier in the week, BJP national president JP Nadda, on a visit to Jammu, told the party cadre to gear up for the upcoming assembly polls while addressing a two-day ‘Vistarit Karyasamiti Baithak.’
He highlighted that the party’s election strategies will be tailored to maximise its chances of success, potentially leading to alliances with independent candidates and like-minded political entities.
The BJP's approach is designed to not only secure more seats but also to strengthen its presence and influence in Jammu and Kashmir.
By supporting independent candidates and forging alliances with other parties, the BJP aims to create a broad coalition that can effectively govern and bring further development to the region.
As the elections approach, the BJP's strategic manoeuvres will be crucial in determining the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
The party's willingness to collaborate with other entities reflects its adaptive strategy to secure a commanding position in the upcoming assembly elections.
