The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears highly confident of a victory in the Bihar assembly elections, having placed an order for 501 kilograms of laddoos ahead of the vote count scheduled for Friday. The state’s polling was conducted in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with results due to be announced on Friday. The election saw the highest voter turnout in Bihar’s history since 1951, registering a turnout of 66.91 per cent.
Buoyed by the majority of exit poll predictions, which have indicated a clear mandate in favour of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, the saffron party is already in a celebratory mood.
BJP worker Krishna Kumar Kallu told the media, “On the counting day, the NDA will celebrate Holi, Dussehra, Diwali, and Eid because people have voted in favour of the NDA’s development works.” He confirmed that the party has ordered 501 kg of laddoos to be "distributed as prasad" (a religious offering) among supporters.
A confectioner in Patna confirmed the order, stating that BJP workers had requested 501 kg of the traditional Indian sweetmeat, which is scheduled for delivery on the morning of November 14.
However, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav dismissed the accuracy of the exit poll predictions, claiming that such forecasts were made at the specific "direction" of the BJP's senior leadership.
