Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal on Thursday delivered a scathing condemnation of what he described as “digital terrorism” orchestrated by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, accusing Khalistani figures Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and Harvinder Singh Rinda of issuing escalated threats to silence patriotic voices in India.
In a defiant address from Ludhiana, Grewal, a senior BJP functionary with over three decades in public life, accused the ISI of orchestrating a propaganda war through proxies like Pannun, leader of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), and Rinda, a listed terrorist with deep ISI connections.
“I have never bowed down to any threat from Pakistan’s barking agents,” Grewal declared. “I stood firm even during the black days of Punjab. I openly challenge Pannun and Rinda, if you think a single email can shake me, then you have deeply underestimated the spirit of a Jat Sikh nationalist nurtured in BJP and born of the soil of Punjab.”
The BJP leader described Pannun as “a mentally disturbed and dangerous terrorist run by ISI, hiding under the cover of American laws and sympathetic media.” He added that Pannun’s alleged email calling for the assassination of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Parag Jain amounts to “international terrorism.”

Grewal said the threats are not isolated but form part of a broader offensive against the nation’s unity and its intelligence institutions. “This is not just against me, this is a direct attack on India’s intelligence agency and the spirit of Indian nationalism,” he said.
Condemning SFJ as a digital platform of terror, Grewal asserted, “SFJ is not a freedom movement, but a digital terror platform operated by ISI. I fully believe that SFJ must be declared a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO).”
Grewal revealed he had formally written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking a comprehensive investigation into the threats, including digital forensic analysis and diplomatic interventions. “I am not afraid, but the Nation must act against these foreign contract killers,” he said.
The BJP leader underscored his long history of resistance to extremism, noting past assassination attempts by the Babbar Khalsa and Bhindranwale Tiger Force. “I have served my party for 35 years. I have survived three assassination attempts... My loyalty to the Nation is sealed with blood and sacrifice.”
Calling upon security agencies and the public to remain vigilant, Grewal stated that the agenda behind ISI’s propaganda network was to fracture India through secessionist narratives. “But as long as we are alive, this will never happen,” he affirmed.
The Union Home Ministry has yet to respond publicly to Grewal’s request for intervention. However, political observers note that the growing digital footprint of SFJ and its coordinated threats across multiple countries may add urgency to calls for a renewed crackdown on overseas extremism.
