Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal has raised fresh allegations against the BJP during a political rally in Punjab, claiming that 70 per cent of the drugs in the state come from Gujarat. He said Gujarat had become the gateway of narcotics under the “ED Party” (as he called the BJP).
He also described gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as an “ED Party ka damaad” (son-in-law of the BJP), implying that he was being sheltered by the Centre.
Kejriwal made these comments during the party’s ‘Sarkar-Vyapar Milni’ rally in Jalandhar on Saturday.
He took swipes at the former ruling parties and alliances in Punjab, including SAD, BJP and Congress, saying the state had four parties — the “Chitta Party" (Beadbi Party), i.e., SAD; the “ED Party” (BJP); the “Jhagda Party” (Congress); and AAP.
He said the AAP government was reaching out to solve the problems of traders and businessmen who are being targeted by the BJP through different agencies.
“Last year, the ED Party collected Rs 60 crore in donations from Punjab. But AAP got only Rs 70 lakh.
The government is ours. The BJP has only two seats. But the ED Party received generous amounts from industrialists… how?” he questioned.
Kejriwal further alleged that through ED raids, those who did not give money were targeted. He accused the “ED Party (BJP) and Chitta Party (SAD)” alliance of taking drugs to people’s homes in the state.
“The AAP government is acting strictly against drugs, and bulldozers are razing drug smugglers’ properties,” he said.
Kejriwal claimed, “70 per cent of the drugs and ‘chitta’ coming to Punjab are from Gujarat. Gujarat has become the gateway for drugs under the ED Party. When the AAP formed the government in Punjab, 70 per cent of the drugs were coming from Pakistan and 30 per cent from Gujarat. We took decisive action, and much of the drugs coming from Pakistan have been curbed through better policing and anti-drone measures.”
To support his allegation, Kejriwal cited the seizure of 3,000 kg of drugs at Mundra port (worth Rs 21,000 crore) and a CAG report on 2,200 kg of drugs being eaten by rats in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, some reports on Saturday claimed that the Punjab assembly elections might be held in November this year instead of February 2027.
