Himachal Pradesh BJP chief Rajiv Bindal on Wednesday called the current Congress government the “worthless government” in the state’s history. He said the BJP would hold a rally against what he termed “vyavastha patan” (system collapse) in Dharamsala during the winter session of the Assembly. The party plans the rally to highlight what it sees as the government’s complete failure.

The winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be organised from November 26 to December 5 at Tapovan in Dharamsala. The session will include eight sittings, spread across the 10-day schedule.

Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and Rajiv Bindal asked what the Congress government was celebrating when, according to them, development has stopped and people across all sections are suffering.

Bindal said "Three years of Congress rule has been synonymous with ruining the lives of the unemployed youth, financial crisis and loans, murder, loot and ransom, deteriorating law and order situation, and false guarantees."

He claimed that on December 4, people would take to the streets and join a massive rally against the Congress government at Zorawar Stadium in Dharamsala.

"Celebration of three years in office cannot be swallowed at a time when the state has been hit by monsoon disaster," said Thakur, adding that the Disaster Act has been implemented as a guise to delay the polls to urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions.

Another BJP leader said, "The Congress has gone into a state of coma after defeat in the Bihar polls, where they could only get six seats. In Himachal, they will be packed into an 'Alto car' in the next state assembly elections."

Sukhu drove his personal Alto car to the Assembly every year to present the budget.

Thakur alleged that funds for schemes such as Himcare and Sahara, which help patients, had not been released. He also said programmes like Jan Manch and Shagun had been stopped. Thakur challenged the Congress leaders to name even one scheme they had started that people actually talk about or appreciate.

BJP leaders also criticised the government for failing to deliver on big election promises, including buying cow milk at Rs 100 per litre, providing one lakh jobs every year to unemployed youth, and giving Rs 1,500 per month to women aged 18 to 59.
