The BJP’s protest, demanding the resignation of minister B Nagendra, entered the third day in Mysuru, Mandya and Hassan districts on Wednesday. The police detained the BJP workers who tried to lay a siege to the Congress office in Mandya, and released them later.
The BJP leaders and workers of Srirangapatna Assembly constituency extended support to the protest staged by their Mandya counterparts. They raised slogans against the Congress government. The protesters reached the Congress office and tried to lay a siege when the police intervened and detained them. There were heated arguments between the police and the agitators. Later, they were taken in police vehicles to the parade grounds before being released.
BJP leader Induvalu Sachidananda said, “Nagendra had gone to jail on allegations of looting the money belonging to Valmiki Corporation. Now, he is out on bail. Why has the Congress included him in the Cabinet again?”
“The Congress government is trying to divert the farmers, by releasing water to Tamil Nadu. However, our Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda is saying that water is not being released to Tamil Nadu. The MLA, who has defended the government, should tender resignation immediately and work for providing justice to the farmers,” the party workers demanded.
