The State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) of the Amritsar police has busted a terror module linked to banned terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Claiming to have averted an attack on a security establishment ahead of the Republic Day, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on X that the timely action had prevented an imminent terror strike. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, SSOC teams arrested an operative with a hand grenade, a sophisticated pistol and ammunition.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused was acting on the directions of foreign-based handlers identified as Nishan Jaurrian, Adesh Jamarai and Simma Deol. The module was allegedly being guided from abroad to carry out subversive activities in Punjab,” said Yadav.
An FIR has been registered and further investigations are underway to identify other associates, funding channels and the broader network involved.
