A bomb threat received via email on Saturday night led to an extensive search of Jammu’s M A Stadium, the main venue for the Republic Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials confirmed on Sunday that the threat was a hoax.

The email, sent from a username “Dise Lish,” was received by official accounts of various departments, including the secretary and director of higher education.

This triggered immediate action, with multiple bomb disposal teams deployed to the stadium. Senior police officers oversaw the search, which continued throughout the night. However, nothing suspicious or dangerous was found.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is scheduled to unfurl the national flag and take the salute at the march past during the Republic Day celebrations at the venue. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will also attend the event as the chief guest.

In response to the false threat, authorities have formed a special team to investigate and track down the sender of the email.
