At least five private schools in Chandigarh and four in Gurugram received bomb threats early Wednesday morning, prompting police to ask students and staff to vacate the premises.
Officials say the schools received the bomb threats via email at about 8 a.m., following which bomb detection squads were dispatched to the educational institutions and the areas evacuated.
Schools that received the email in Chandigarh are said to include Saint Kabir, Ryan International, Vivek High, Sacred Heart, Chitkara International and Bhavan Vidyalaya.
Police are investigating the threats and their sources.
