The Satluj floodwaters have submerged manmade markings like border pillars and barbed wire fencing along the India-Pakistan border in the Ferozepur sector. The joint India-Pakistan check post at Hussainiwala is also inundated, leading to the indefinite suspension of the beating the retreat ceremony. The road leading to the check post has been severely damaged at several places.
The BSF has deployed its water wing equipped with motorboats and surveillance drones to patrol the area. BSF men are reaching out to the affected people, even though their own border outposts are inundated.
Ten BSF rescue teams, equipped with speedboats, have been deployed near Kaluwala, Tendi Wala and Gatti Rajjo Ke villages and more teams are stationed near Nihala Lavera, Dheera Gara and Sultanwala villages. Besides helping in the evacuation, the BSF is also assisting villagers in shifting household items, livestock and essential material from the inundated houses.
