Boys have demonstrated a notable performance surpassing their female counterparts In the recent announcement of the class 10 board examination results in Assam.
The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), unveiled the outcomes on Saturday, revealing an overall pass percentage of 75.7 percent for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSCL) examination conducted in February-March this year.
This achievement marks a substantial improvement compared to the preceding two years, with pass percentages of 56.4 per cent in 2022 and 72.6 per cent in 2023, respectively.
A total of 4,19,078 students undertook the examination, comprising 1,87,904 boys, 2,31,164 girls, and 10 individuals identifying as transgender.
Notably, the pass percentage among boys stood at 77.3 per cent, while girls achieved 74.4 percent and transgender candidates exhibited an impressive 80 percent success rate.
Chirang district emerged with the highest pass percentage at 91.2 percent, juxtaposed with Udalguri district recording the lowest at 60.9 percent.
The SEBA further disclosed the top three rank holders, with three students jointly securing the third position.
Anurag Doloi of Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School clinched the top spot with an outstanding score of 593 out of a total of 600 marks.
Following closely, Jharna Saikia of Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Biswanath Chariali, secured the second position with 590 marks.
The third rank was shared by Manish Pratim Saikia of Island Academy, Majuli, Bedanta Choudhury of Stella Maris School, Sarupeta, and Devashree Kashyap of Ramanujan Senior Secondary School, Nagaon, each achieving a commendable score of 588 marks.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his congratulations to the successful candidates while offering words of encouragement to those who may not have met their expected outcomes.
"Congratulations to all my young friends who have successfully passed their HSLC exam this year. I wish you all the best for a bright future ahead," he conveyed.
He further added, "For those who aren't happy with the results, I want to tell them - one exam is NEVER a make or break exam. Life will always give you several more chances. Identify the numerous talents you are bestowed with and keep working hard! You will go places."
