A bridge connecting Govindghat and Gurdwara Sri Hemkund Sahib collapsed due to a landslide in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district. Large boulders fell from the hill near Govindghat, causing the bridge to break.
Meanwhile, high-altitude areas like Badrinath Dham and Sri Hemkund Sahib received heavy snowfall, while low-lying areas experienced rainfall, leading to a drop in temperature.
Avalanche kills eight workers in Uttarakhand
An avalanche in the region led to the death of eight workers involved in border road construction. However, 46 others were rescued.
Investigation ordered into Uttarakhand landslides and avalanche
Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari has ordered an investigation into the Mana avalanche. Jyotirmath SDM Chandra Shekhar Vashishth has been assigned to submit a probe report within 15 days, though it may take up to a month.
Among the rescued workers, 36 are stable and will be discharged soon. Eight others are receiving treatment at the Army Hospital in Jyotirmath, while two critical patients are admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh.
