In a striking move to win over the old guard of Telangana politics, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday invoked the legacy of TDP founder NT Rama Rao, arguing that the ultimate tribute to the legendary leader would be the total "political burial" of K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Speaking at a rally where a significant number of TDP flags were spotted among the crowd, Reddy reached out directly to the admirers of NTR and the followers of Chandrababu Naidu. He reminded the audience that the BRS had spent years trying to erase the TDP's footprint in Telangana. "To truly honor NT Rama Rao, we must bury the BRS party 100 feet deep and dismantle their hold on this state," Reddy declared, framing the destruction of the BRS as a historical necessity.
The Chief Minister promised that his Congress administration would be the true successor to the welfare ideals of both NTR and the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He took a sharp jab at KCR’s track record, pointing out that if the previous government had built two lakh houses every year as promised, 20 lakh families would have had homes by now. With municipal elections on the horizon, he urged the crowd to stick with the Congress to finish the job.
Away from the political heat, Reddy also spent time with nursing students, where he laid out a surprisingly modern vision for the state’s workforce. He announced that the government plans to set up language centers to teach Japanese, Korean, and German to nursing students. Recognising the global demand for healthcare professionals, he argued that mastering these languages would allow Telangana’s nurses to dominate the international job market.
"Doctors are often called next to God, but nurses are the backbone of care," the CM said, expressing his hope that local students would soon be representing the prestige of Telangana in hospitals across the globe.
