One person was killed and 21 others injured when a bus carrying passengers rammed into a pillar of an under-construction flyover on the Pathankot-Jammu national highway here on Thursday, officials said.
As per officials, the incident occurred near the Bari Brahmana area when the bus, en route to Katra from Jammu, slammed into the pillar after its driver lost control due to overspeeding.
Shortly after the mishap took place, police and rescue teams launched a quick rescue operation. All the injured were quickly shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment, they added.
Most of the injured are said to be in stable condition, while a few seriously injured patients are being kept under medical observation.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation. This is developing news, and more details shall follow.
