C'garh Assembly upholds highest democratic traditions: Murmu

Speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of the Assembly in Raipur, President Murmu stated that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has exemplified parliamentary democracy in India.

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday lauded the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly for setting a remarkable example of parliamentary democracy in India.


Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Assembly in Raipur, she highlighted its commitment to maintaining high democratic standards. She commended the House for its exceptional rule of automatic suspension for members who enter the Well during proceedings, noting that it has been consistently upheld.


Expressing her appreciation, President Murmu pointed out that in the last 25 years, Marshalls have never been required in the Assembly, demonstrating exemplary parliamentary conduct. 


She remarked that Chhattisgarh's Legislative Assembly has set a precedent not just for the nation but also for democratic institutions worldwide.


Addressing women legislators, the President urged them to support and uplift women across all sectors. She emphasised that by promoting women working in diverse fields, greater attention would be drawn to their contributions, paving the way for their progress.

She acknowledged the efforts of women who excel in various fields—be it education, administration, social work, entrepreneurship, science, arts, labor, or farming—while balancing household responsibilities. 


Stressing the importance of collective empowerment, she stated that when women support one another, society becomes stronger and more inclusive.


President Murmu also highlighted Chhattisgarh’s vast developmental potential. She noted that the state possesses significant opportunities in industries such as cement, minerals, steel, and power generation. Additionally, she praised its natural beauty, with lush green forests, waterfalls, and other environmental riches.


She urged the state's policymakers to prioritize environmental conservation alongside development. Emphasizing inclusive progress, she called on leaders to ensure that all sections of society benefit from modernisation efforts.
