Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, a well-known hospital in Gurugram, has reported the theft of expensive cancer treatment injections from its in-patient department (IPD). The six missing injections are worth Rs 7,62,473 and are used for critical cancer patients.
The hospital’s non-medical head filed a complaint, after which the DLF Phase 3 police station registered an FIR and started an investigation. The FIR, dated March 5, was filed under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with theft in sensitive locations like homes, religious places, or transport systems.
Jatin Negi, the hospital’s non-medical head, stated in his complaint that during an audit of the IPD pharmacy in February, they discovered that six different types of injections were missing.
The stolen injections and their prices include Versavo (Rs 55,005), Entherto (Rs 1,67,069), Avastin (Rs 1,23,506), Erbitux (Rs 21,250), Biomab (Rs 65,643), and Innonza (Rs 3,30,000).
Negi suspects that a hospital staff member might be involved in the theft, as patients, visitors, or outsiders are unlikely to know the high value of these medicines. The hospital administration has reviewed CCTV footage but has not found any clear evidence yet. The police have started their investigation to identify the culprit.
