Three people were killed on Wednesday morning when the car they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a van operated by a courier service in the district, police have confirmed.
The deceased have been identified as Rachappa (57), Naveen (30), and Nagaraj (38), all of whom were residents of Narayankhed taluk in the Sangareddy district of Telangana.
The accident occurred at approximately 7.30 am near Neelamandi Tanda in Bhalki taluk. The group was reportedly returning after visiting the Sri Dattatreya Temple in the Kalaburagi district for prayers, according to the police.
Preliminary investigations suggest the collision happened when the car, carrying a total of five occupants, was attempting a turn onto the Bidar-Kalaburagi highway via Humnabad. It struck the courier service's Bolero van head-on, a senior police officer stated.
The three men died instantly at the scene. The two other passengers in the car, along with the driver of the Bolero van, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Bidar. An investigation is underway, confirmed the police.
