The self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 will begin across Arunachal Pradesh on April 16 and continue till April 30, an official from the Directorate of Census Operations said.
Assistant Director (Training) Chafikhur Rahman said the exercise will allow residents to submit their household details through official platforms, describing it as a “simple and convenient process” aimed at improving the accuracy and timeliness of data collection.
He urged residents to actively participate and provide correct information on household composition, housing conditions and access to basic amenities.
Following the self-enumeration phase, Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO) field operations will be conducted from May 1 to May 30. During this period, trained enumerators will visit households across the state to collect and verify data.
“These visits are an essential part of the census process to verify and complete information,” Rahman said, urging citizens to cooperate fully with enumerators during door-to-door surveys.

He said the data collected would play a key role in planning and development activities by helping the government assess population trends, housing conditions and access to services such as water, electricity and sanitation.
Describing the census as one of the largest administrative exercises in the country, the official said the information gathered is used for policy-making, allocation of resources and improving infrastructure in both rural and urban areas.
Rahman also assured residents that personal information collected during the exercise would be kept confidential and used only for statistical purposes. “Strict guidelines are in place to ensure data privacy and security,” he said.
Residents have been advised to keep necessary information ready, including details of family members, type of housing and availability of facilities, to ensure a smooth process. They have also been asked to verify the identity of enumerators during visits.
The state government has appealed to residents to treat the census as a civic responsibility and extend full cooperation to ensure its successful completion.
