A five-member inter-ministerial team from the Centre arrived in Tripura on Wednesday to assess the extensive damage caused by recent floods.
The delegation, led by B C Joshi from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), will inspect some of the worst-hit areas to evaluate the impact of the disaster.
The floods have claimed the lives of at least 31 people and displaced over 100,000 residents.
Brijesh Pandey, Secretary of the Revenue Department, announced that the team includes officials from the Finance, Transport, Rural Development, and Water Resources ministries.
Pandey highlighted that all district magistrates have been instructed to assist the team during their assessment.
He also noted that the water level in the Gomati reservoir has finally fallen below the danger mark for the first time since August 19.
Restoration work is currently underway in the Gomati and South Tripura districts.
At present, 53,356 individuals are living in 369 relief camps after their homes were either destroyed or submerged. The administration has started relief efforts and rebuilding initiatives.
Officials estimate the financial damage from the floods could reach Rs 15,000 crore.
The Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded a special central aid package to support the state's recovery and reconstruction efforts.
