Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Wednesday said that the Government of India has accorded approval to road projects proposed by Himachal Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV), Batch-I, for the year 2025–26.
He said that the proposals were examined by the Empowered Committee in its meeting held on November 4, 2025, and the approval has been granted based on the committee’s recommendations and the compliance report submitted by the state government.
The minister said that a total of 294 road works, covering a length of 1,538.058 kilometres, have been approved at a total cost of ₹2,247.24 crore. Of this, ₹2,019.70 crore will be borne by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), while the state government’s share will be ₹227.54 crore, including ₹3.124 crore towards higher specification costs. The average cost per kilometre has been fixed at ₹146.11 lakh.
He said that among the approved roads, four are in Bilaspur, 65 in Chamba, two in Hamirpur, 12 in Kangra, eight in Kinnaur, 65 in Kullu, two in Lahaul and Spiti, 23 in Mandi, 97 in Shimla, 11 in Sirmaur, three in Solan and two in Una district.
Vikramaditya Singh said the approved projects would significantly improve road connectivity in rural and remote areas of the state. He said they would ensure easier movement, better access to essential services and enhanced economic opportunities for local communities.
The Public Works Minister expressed gratitude to the Union Government and said the approval would help fulfil the state government’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure while providing safe, reliable and all-weather road connectivity to people across Himachal Pradesh.
