The Central Rural Development Ministry’s Empowered Committee praised Uttarakhand for successfully implementing government schemes. Due to its achievements, the state received more funding, higher targets, and special bonuses for the next financial year.

Success in DAY-NRLM:
Uttarakhand effectively used Rs 105.67 crore under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). As a result, it became the first state to receive a Rs 32 crore bonus. For 2025-26, its allocation has increased by 35 per cent to Rs 142.21 crore, with a higher spending limit of Rs 213.32 crore.
Leading in skill development:
Uttarakhand, along with Punjab, achieved 100 per cent of its targets under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). This made it one of the top-performing states, earning it additional targets from the central government.
Expansion of MGNREGA:
For 2025-26, the state has been given a labour budget of 187.66 lakh person-days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Due to last year’s strong performance, the target has now increased to 200 lakh person-days.

Better rural roads with PMGSY:
Uttarakhand’s work in rural road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was highly appreciated, especially in Phase-1. A newly launched mobile app for road monitoring was also praised, with plans to link it with other digital tools. The committee recommended involving MPs and MLAs in planning for Phase-4 of the project.
Progress in housing initiatives:
The state was commended for its achievements under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with special recognition for its work under PM Janman. By implementing central government schemes effectively, Uttarakhand is improving rural infrastructure, creating jobs, and enhancing the quality of life for its people.
