Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) has postponed the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Main (Written) Examination 2025 along with about a dozen other scheduled examinations, which were earlier scheduled to take place this year after huge protests by students and political parties.
Issuing a notification, the Commission informed that the Main examination will no longer be conducted on the notified dates. It said a revised timetable for the written examination will be announced separately.
Candidates have been asked to keep checking the official JPSC website for updates regarding the new examination schedule, admit cards and other related announcements.
The Commission, however, did not specify the reason for postponing the examination or indicate when the revised dates would be released. It appealed to candidates to ignore unverified information circulating on social media and rely only on official notifications for authentic updates.
JPSC also stated that fresh admit cards will be issued once the new examination dates are finalised. The hall tickets, expected to be uploaded a few days before the examination, will carry details such as the examination centre, reporting time, schedule and important guidelines.
The Main examination was initially planned for July 25, 26 and 27 in Ranchi, and candidates had already stepped up their preparations. While the postponement has pushed back the recruitment process, the Commission clarified that the examination has only been deferred and not cancelled, urging aspirants to continue their studies.
The development comes against the backdrop of recent protests by candidates, who had raised concerns over the recruitment process.
Some aspirants alleged that the agency entrusted with conducting JPSC examinations had earlier been blacklisted in Uttar Pradesh and demanded greater transparency. However, the Commission's notification makes no reference to these allegations while announcing the postponement.
Amid the controversy, JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte resigned from his post. Governor Santosh Gangwar is said to have accepted his resignation on Wednesday.
In a related development, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a large demonstration in Ranchi over the alleged irregularities in the JPSC examination process.
Protesters assembled outside the JPSC office before attempting to march towards the Congress office, where they were confronted by Congress workers. The protest remained peaceful, and no untoward incident was reported.
