Chemical-laden tanker that catches fire on Delhi-Jaipur highway..

Two businessmen lost their lives and two others were seriously hurt when their car caught fire after coming in contact with a burning chemical tanker on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near Banipur Chowk, Bawal, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev from Delhi and Vineesh, also known as Anshu, from Ghaziabad. The injured, Sumit from Delhi and Rahul from Ghaziabad, are being treated at a hospital in Delhi. Police said no FIR had been filed till the time of reporting, but an investigation has begun.

The accident took place when a tanker carrying chemicals overturned on the highway and exploded, sparking a massive fire. The four men, who were on their way to Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan, were travelling in a car that passed close to the burning tanker and caught fire.

Sanjeev and Anshu could not escape and were burnt alive. Sumit and Rahul managed to get out but suffered severe burn injuries. Firefighters and police reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, from where they were later moved to Delhi.

Inspector Shiv Darshan, SHO of Kasola Police Station, said the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem. Both men were running their own businesses in their hometowns.

“The tanker driver managed to flee the scene after the incident. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend him in order to determine the exact cause of the mishap, as well as to gather information about the origin and destination of the chemical being transported,” the SHO said.
