A police official has reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at a police station in Chhattisgarh's Balod district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Heeraman Mandavi, an assistant sub-inspector assigned to the Dallirajhara police station. According to City Superintendent of Police Chitra Verma, Mandavi was found hanging in his barrack in the morning. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The official said that while no suicide note has been recovered, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason for the extreme step.

According to government data, 177 security personnel have committed suicide in Chhattisgarh over the past six and a half years. The reasons for these suicides include family and personal issues, alcohol addiction, and various ailments. In recent days, a policeman in Durg district and an official of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) in Kondagaon district also took their own lives.
