A joint investigation team comprising officials of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Ranchi Police carried out a search operation at the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) headquarters on Tuesday as part of an ongoing probe into alleged irregularities linked to the 14th JPSC Preliminary Examination.
The raid followed complaints alleging procedural lapses in the conduct of the examination, prompting the investigating agencies to initiate action. The operation was supervised by the Ranchi City Superintendent of Police and involved extensive security arrangements at the commission's office.
Police sealed the JPSC premises during the search to prevent unauthorised access and ensure that no files, electronic records or other potentially significant evidence could be removed. A sizeable deployment of security personnel, including Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), inspectors, sub-inspectors and armed police, was stationed across the campus to maintain order throughout the operation.
Officials also imposed temporary restrictions on the movement of employees inside the headquarters while investigators examined records. Sources said the team is reviewing allegations of irregularities in previous JPSC examinations and recruitment exercises in addition to the 14th preliminary test.
Investigators are scrutinising physical documents, merit lists, digital records, computer hard drives and other official files that could assist in establishing whether recruitment procedures were compromised.
The development comes a day before the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scheduled to stage a gherao of the JPSC headquarters on July 22, demanding accountability over the alleged examination irregularities. No official statement has been issued by the investigating agencies regarding the outcome of the search or whether any documents or electronic devices were seized.
