The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Thursday busted a highly sophisticated international cyber fraud racket operating from Srinagar, arresting seven individuals and recovering equipment worth crores, officials said.
Acting on credible technical inputs about covert call centres engaged in fraudulent online activities targeting foreigners and Indian citizens, CIK teams conducted swift, coordinated raids across multiple locations in the city. The main operation was carried out at an industrial unit in Rangreth, Srinagar.
During the raids, seven suspects were apprehended and a large quantity of digital and communication equipment was seized, including:
• 13 mobile phones (2 iPhone 17, 3 iPhone 16, 2 iPhone 10, 2 iPhone 11, 1 Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, 1 Redmi 11T 5G, 1 Narzo 50A, 1 Redmi Note 7 Pro).
• 1 Apple iPad, 3 Dell laptops, 4 HP laptops, 2 Apple MacBooks, VoIP systems, SIM cards, networking devices, and digital storage media.
The seized material clearly indicates a highly organised and technologically advanced criminal setup involved in large-scale cyber fraud, officials said.
The arrests and recoveries mark a significant blow to international cybercrime networks operating from the Valley. Further investigation is underway to trace the full extent of the racket and identify additional members.
