The Counter Intelligence Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday recovered several digital devices and incriminating material from the Srinagar Central Jail premises during a search operation linked to a terror-related case, officials said.
The case has been registered under various sections of the erstwhile Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Acting on specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of suspicious digital devices inside the Central Jail premises, search operations were conducted across several blocks and barracks in close coordination with jail authorities, officials said.
Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) sleuths seized multiple digital communication devices and incriminating material during the operation, they added.
Officials said the recovered devices will be sent for forensic examination to trace possible external links.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police’s special wing is also probing the apparent security breach that enabled the entry of such devices into the high-security prison. All those involved in the crime or linked to the security breach will be investigated and dealt with according to law, officials said.
