Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his 346th death anniversary, saying the legendary ruler upheld self-respect while keeping the spirit of faith and righteousness alive.
In a post on X, Dhami remembered Shivaji Maharaj’s dedication to protecting religion, good governance, and unmatched bravery. He said Shivaji Maharaj’s life continues to inspire millions across the country.
"On the death anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ji, the pioneer of Hindavi Swarajya, the unwavering resolve for the protection of religion, the exemplar of unparalleled valour and exemplary governance--millions of salutations," he wrote.
He further highlighted Shivaji Maharaj’s courage, devotion, foresight, and strong sense of self-respect. According to him, Shivaji Maharaj stood as a timeless example of justice, strength, and deep patriotism.
Dhami said Shivaji Maharaj’s life reflected extraordinary courage, clear vision, and unwavering devotion to the nation. He added that even during difficult times, Shivaji Maharaj kept alive the values of faith, dignity, and justice, strengthening national consciousness.
He also said Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy continues to remind people that protecting faith, fulfilling duty, and working for the welfare of the nation remain the highest ideals of life.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a 17th-century warrior king who founded the Maratha Empire and is widely regarded as one of India’s greatest military leaders and administrators.
He passed away on April 3, 1680, at Raigad Fort in Maharashtra. His death anniversary is observed every year to honour his legacy as a visionary ruler and courageous warrior.
Earlier, CM Dhami extended greetings to the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
In another post, he invoked Lord Hanuman, describing him as the swift messenger, master of the senses, and devoted servant of Lord Rama. He wrote that he takes refuge in the wind-swift messenger, the wise and powerful son of the wind-god, and the devoted emissary of Lord Rama.
Dhami also conveyed his wishes to the people of the state, praying that Lord Hanuman’s blessings bring knowledge, devotion, courage, focus, happiness, prosperity, and good health to everyone.
