The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly witnessed a significant transition on Monday as Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, alongside nine cabinet ministers and a host of newly elected members, formally took their oaths of office. The proceedings, which began at 9.30 am, were led by Pro-Tem Speaker MV Karuppaiah, who oversaw the swearing-in of the state’s fresh legislative intake.
The Chief Minister was the first to be sworn in, followed closely by his ministerial colleagues, including N Anand and Aadhav Arjuna. The atmosphere in the House was one of considerable political weight, as the ceremony brought together figures from across the aisle. Among those taking their seats as legislators were DMK legislature party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, as well as former Chief Ministers Edappadi K Palaniswami of the AIADMK and O Panneerselvam.
Prominent AIADMK figures such as Agri Krishnamurthy and KP Anbalagan were also among the cohort of MLAs to complete the formalities. This official commencement of the assembly's term marks the beginning of a new chapter for the state's governance, with the Pro-Tem Speaker’s introduction setting a formal tone for the busy legislative sessions expected to follow in the coming weeks.
