Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday emphasised that his government is committed to transforming the state through enhanced railway connectivity, describing ongoing projects as a “giant leap” towards economic growth.

Highlighting the strides made, Khandu shared updates on the state’s railway initiatives in a post on X. “Transforming Arunachal through Rail Connectivity! Major strides are being made to link every corner of our state with the national railway network,” he said.

The Naharlagun station is currently being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat scheme, while the Pasighat station is slated for completion by December. Once operational, the Pasighat hub will serve as a vital transport node for eastern Arunachal Pradesh, connecting the Siang belt to the national network and facilitating smoother movement of goods and passengers.

Khandu noted that the detailed project report for the Pasighat–Tezu–Parshuram Kund-Rupai railway line has been finalised. “The line, once operational, is expected to provide a crucial link between key cultural and economic zones, boosting tourism and trade along the Brahmaputra valley corridor,” he said.

Field-level surveys have been completed for two other strategically significant routes: Silapathar–Bame–Along (96 km) and Misamari–Tawang (198 km). The latter will improve access to high-altitude districts near the India-China border, reinforcing national security infrastructure while promoting regional development.

The Chief Minister said that the railway projects will ensure better connectivity, foster economic growth, and ease travel for the state’s residents. Enhanced railway access, he added, will also create opportunities for entrepreneurs, improve access to education and healthcare, and integrate remote areas more closely with the mainstream.
