The Mercury has dropped in West Bengal. Even though it was cloudy on Thursday, the people of the state could feel the cold winter winds. This morning, while going to the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saw sweepers cleaning the streets.
CM Banerjee, who has always asserted that she will do everything in her ambit to support the local people of the state, got down from the car and handed over blankets to those involved in the cleaning process, including those leaving on the streets. The sanitation workers and others who got the blankets were happy with the gesture shown by the chief minister.
CM Mamata Banerjee took to social media, to narrate the ordeal. Her post on Facebook reads, “Like every day, today, too, when I was going to the State Secretariat, I was pained to see the plight of the sanitation workers. The manner in which they work hard to earn a living aches my heart. These workers were toiling hard in the cold winter morning to keep our city and state clean. So I thought of giving them blankets which will help them to fight this cold. I am determined to always be with people to the best of my ability. If even one person is in pain in any part of my state, then it brings me equal pain. I have dedicated my entire life to public service for the welfare of the people. If people in my state are keeping well then I will also be at peace. May everyone stay happy and healthy.”
Mamata Banerjee is a seven-time MP, three-time Union Minister, three-time Chief Minister tries to underscore her empathetic side.
