Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday alleged that the BJP was behind the recent blasts in multiple cities across the state, triggering a fresh political row ahead of the Assembly elections.

Addressing his first nukkad meeting near his residence in Jalandhar on the second day of his ‘Shukrana Yatra’, Mann claimed the blasts were a sign of the BJP’s growing interference in Punjab politics.

“The two communal parties, BJP and Akali Dal, make common people fight for votes. These small explosions are a clear sign of the BJP’s entry into Punjab. After winning Bengal, they said, ‘Now Punjab next.’ Wherever they go, they create divisions. They want Hindus and Sikhs to fight, but Punjab has always remained united,” Mann said.

He had made similar remarks a day earlier, alleging that the explosions were part of the BJP’s strategy to gain a foothold in Punjab. He urged people to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood while fighting against divisive politics.

The BJP strongly objected to Mann’s comments, accusing him of failing to maintain law and order and demanding evidence to support his serious allegations. Mann asserted that Punjabis have always upheld the tradition of unity and brotherhood, which has been reflected during past incidents.

During the Jalandhar leg of the Shukrana Yatra, Mann is scheduled to address public gatherings in Adampur and Kartarpur before proceeding to Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Faridkot.
