The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a significant step towards filling 16,347 vacancies for government teachers by issuing a Government Order (GO) on Thursday. This move aims to complete the recruitment process by the end of 2024.
Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad has directed the Commissioner of School Education to undertake all necessary measures to conduct the Mega DSC (District Selection Committee) – 2024 and to ensure that the recruitment process is completed by December 31, 2024.
"The government hereby decides to fill up 16,347 teacher posts in School Education and other related departments through Mega DSC – 2024," stated Prasad in the GO. The decision to endorse teacher recruitment was the first file signed by the newly appointed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, fulfilling a key election promise.
In addition to the teacher recruitment initiative, Chief Minister Naidu has approved several other projects related to his electoral commitments, including enhancements in welfare pensions.
The welfare pensions for eligible beneficiaries have been increased to Rs 4,000 per month. Minister N. Ramanaidu, addressing a press conference at the secretariat, announced that Rs 7,000 would be disbursed as welfare pensions to each beneficiary on July 1. This amount includes Rs 1,000 for each month from April to June, along with the enhanced Rs 4,000 pension.
Minister Ramanaidu also confirmed that the government volunteer system will continue after a review and potential enhancements.
Furthermore, the government will release department-wise white papers to maintain transparency and accountability in its operations.
