Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sanctioned Used Water Management projects for two districts in the Union Territory on Saturday, officials said. The projects were approved for Baramulla and Rajouri districts to strengthen sanitation infrastructure and address wastewater challenges.
“The government has approved Used Water Management projects for Baramulla (Rs 37.96 crore) and Rajouri (Rs 34.43 crore) to strengthen sanitation infrastructure and address wastewater challenges,” according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
“These projects will ensure scientific treatment of sewage, prevent pollution of water bodies, and significantly improve public health, hygiene and living conditions in these areas,” the CMO added.
In just 12 days, the Omar Abdullah-led government has sanctioned development projects worth over Rs 205.39 crore across various sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, the government had approved Rs 93 crore to improve power infrastructure in Srinagar city. During his recent visit to Ganderbal district, Omar Abdullah inaugurated multiple projects across the health and tourism sectors. He first inaugurated advanced testing facilities at the district hospital and also launched the Sindh Riverfront Project to boost tourism in the region.
These projects are estimated to cost around Rs 40 crore and aim to strengthen health infrastructure, public infrastructure and the tourism industry in the district.
