Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of disrespecting Telangana with past remarks made in Parliament regarding the state's creation.
Reddy iterated Modi's stance that during the formation of Telangana, the "doors of Parliament were closed" by the then Congress-led UPA government, likening the event to the "killing" of Andhra Pradesh to birth Telangana.
He pointed out that while the Congress fulfilled its promise of Telangana's formation despite suffering political setbacks in Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation, Modi's remarks were deeply insulting to Telangana.
Addressing a rally in support of Congress candidate Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy in Bhuvanagiri, Reddy questioned Modi's legitimacy in seeking votes from Telangana citizens after such derogatory comments.
Reddy also criticized Modi for failing to fulfill promises made to Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, such as establishing a steel plant and railway coach factory in the state.
He also accused the Modi government of eroding democratic institutions.
Reddy emphasized the importance of the INDIA bloc winning to protect constitutional values and claimed that the Congress, with the support of Left parties, is the true guardian of Telangana's interests.
Despite ideological differences, Reddy stated that the Congress never insulted the Left parties, unlike the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
Attacking KCR's alliance with the NDA government, Reddy alleged that KCR would align with Modi even if his party secured just one seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
He criticized KCR for his alleged failure to challenge Modi on significant issues, despite his party's support on contentious matters like demonetization and GST.
Reddy also rebuked KCR for purportedly predicting the fall of the Congress government in the state, highlighting the Congress's achievements in fulfilling election promises, including providing free travel for women on state-run RTC buses, affordable LPG cylinders, and free electricity for the economically disadvantaged.
