Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu congratulated Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan on taking charge as the 47th Vice Chief of the Indian Navy. Vice Admiral Vatsayan hails from Hiranagar in Hamirpur district.
The Chief Minister said it is a proud moment for Himachal that its sons are serving the nation with such dedication and achieving great milestones.
After taking charge on Friday, Vice Admiral Vatsayan paid tribute at the National War Memorial and laid a wreath in honour of the brave soldiers. He then received a Guard of Honour at South Block.
Vice Admiral Vatsayan is an alumnus of the 71st course of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on January 1, 1988. A specialist in Gunnery and Missile Systems, he has served in several key roles over his 36-year career.
Before this new post, he was the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy & Plans) at Naval Headquarters and had also commanded the Eastern Fleet.
He has also served as Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff in various roles, Chief of Staff at the Eastern Naval Command, and Deputy Commandant of NDA.
For his service and dedication, Vice Admiral Vatsayan has been awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Nau Sena Medal (NM).
