Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday inspected the under-construction heliport at Jaskot in Hamirpur district, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 18 crore. During the visit, he directed officials to ensure that the project is completed by May this year.
Sukhu said the state government is giving priority to improving connectivity and infrastructure. He said these efforts are part of the government's larger commitment to promote tourism in the state.
Sukhu said the growth of tourism would help strengthen the state’s economy. It would also create employment and self-employment opportunities for young people, according to a statement issued after the visit.
He added that heliports are being built at all district headquarters and other important tourist destinations across Himachal Pradesh to improve air connectivity.
Recently, helicopter services were started from the Sanjauli heliport in Shimla to Chandigarh and Reckong Peo in Himachal Pradesh. These services aim to make travel easier for tourists visiting key destinations.
The statement added that helicopter services on the Sanjauli–Rampur–Reckong Peo and Sanjauli–Manali (SASE Helipad) routes will begin soon.
Later, the chief minister also inspected the under-construction Hamirpur bus stand project, which is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 123 crore. He said the work on both projects is moving ahead at a good pace. Sukhu expressed confidence that they will be completed within the set timeframe and will provide better facilities and improved infrastructure to the people of the district.
