Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has instructed state officials to coordinate with the Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure the safe evacuation of 103 Himachali students currently studying in the Union Territory, amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The directive came following a meeting with Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, who informed the Chief Minister about growing concerns among parents regarding the safety of their children studying at various institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Srinagar.
Pathania stated that around 103 students from Himachal Pradesh are stranded due to the ongoing conflict and that their families have appealed to the state government for urgent intervention to ensure their safe return to their homes.
Chief Minister Sukhu assured that the government is committed to ensuring the safety and well being of all Himachali students and that necessary steps are being taken in coordination with the concerned authorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
