Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav distributed free helmets to young people and formally launched a two-wheeler rally in Bhopal on Saturday to raise awareness about road safety. The event was held as part of the ongoing 'Seva Pakhwada' (Service Fortnight).
"A two-wheeler rally was taken out for road safety awareness, and it should make the whole of Bhopal fully aware," CM Yadav told reporters. "A road safety week is being observed across the state, and 2,100 free helmets were also distributed. Helmets help us significantly to safeguard ourselves during road accidents."
He urged the public to act as responsible citizens and consistently wear a helmet when riding a two-wheeler.
The Chief Minister also specifically appealed to young riders to slow down, remain vigilant, and always use a helmet.
“As part of the ‘Seva Pakhwada’, I flagged off a two-wheeler rally for road safety awareness at Atal Path in Bhopal," CM Yadav stated in a post on his X account. "I also distributed free helmets to the youth during the event and wished them a safe life. I appeal to all my sons and daughters not to drive at high speeds and to always wear a helmet. Stay vigilant and stay safe.”
This latest drive comes after the Bhopal district administration recently implemented a new policy to enhance road safety: petrol stations are now banned from dispensing fuel (petrol or CNG) to any two-wheeler rider who is not wearing a helmet. This directive, aimed at enforcing traffic regulations and reducing accident-related fatalities, is now in effect across all fuel stations in the city. Staff have been strictly instructed not to provide fuel to any rider found violating the helmet mandate.
