The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led movement that has organised protests in Delhi and Pune, is now set to hold a demonstration in Punjab. Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke announced on Friday that the group's next protest will take place in Amritsar on June 13.
Often described as a "Gen Z revolt", the movement is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and seeking accountability over issues linked to the NEET and CBSE examinations.
In posts shared on X and Instagram, Dipke said the protest would be held at Golden Gate in Amritsar at 4 pm on June 13. He also appealed to students and volunteers to join the peaceful demonstration.
What began as an online campaign has gradually moved to the streets, drawing support from young people across the country. Many participants say they are concerned about challenges in the education system and want meaningful reforms.
With Punjab heading towards the 2027 Assembly elections, political activity is already picking up. If the protest draws a strong response from students and youth, it could emerge as an issue that attracts political attention in the run-up to the polls.
