In view of the continuously falling temperatures and a warning of severe cold wave conditions in Jharkhand, the Ranchi district administration has gone into alert mode. According to a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi Meteorological Centre, the state is likely to experience intense cold and cold wave conditions until further orders.

Ranchi district has been placed under the Yellow Zone, indicating an increased impact of cold weather.

Acting on the IMD’s warning, the district administration has issued an order suspending academic activities for students from KG to Class 12 in all government, non-government and private schools till December 31, 2025.

The district administration clarified that extreme cold and cold wave conditions could adversely affect the health of children. Keeping students’ safety and health as a top priority, the decision was taken to suspend classes.

School managements have been directed to strictly comply with the order, with a warning of strict action in case of any negligence.

However, the administration has also stated that if any examinations are already scheduled during this period, school authorities may conduct them at their discretion.

In such cases, schools have been advised to make adequate arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of students.

Meanwhile, the impact of biting cold is clearly visible during morning and night hours across Ranchi and several other parts of Jharkhand. A steady drop in minimum temperatures has disrupted normal life.

People are resorting to bonfires to protect themselves from the cold, while the demand for warm clothing has surged in local markets.

The administration has appealed to the public to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during extreme cold hours, and take special care of children and the elderly.

Authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and have indicated that further necessary steps will be taken depending on prevailing conditions.
